The first Canadian Online Travel Marketing Conference with over 180 attendees has positioned Canada as a major contender in the Online Travel Marketplace.
Toronto, On, May 29, 2005 -- Canadian Tourism professionals had more than 12 solid hours of content and over 30 outstanding speakers to digest after the first of its kind, Canadian Online Travel Conference, Online Revealed wrapped up last week in Ottawa.
“The inaugural , Online Revealed 2006, affirmed the true arrival of the Internet as a critical channel for the Canadian travel industry," said Sean C. Shannon V.P. and General Manager Expedia Canada Corp, and Online Revealed Canada Speaker.
The Conference, produced in association with the , and brought hospitality suppliers, vendors, hotel groups, individual hotels, tourism operators, travel intermediaries, agencies and other Canadian Travel Professionals together to provide a forum with a uniquely Canadian approach to the ever-changing online marketplace and what it means to the Canadian Tourism Industry.
The conference topics were unique with content coming from combined with Search Engine Optimization and Marketing Professionals, which brought out engaging discussions about balancing online strategy to reach both the consumer and search engines alike.
Online giants Google and Expedia brought their thoughts on the Canadian Online Travel Market. Both Vince Chirico – Head of Travel for Google, and Sean Shannon, Managing Director – Expedia Canada shared that Canada is recognized as a distinct and growing marketing when it comes to online travel.
Sharing their new vision of , the Canadian Tourism Commission and their members presented the new dot travel strategy as created by Jens Thraenhart, Executive Director Marketing Strategy & Customer Relationship Management for the CTC, and Conference Co-Chair. Explore Canada will position the country as one of the most sought after destinations through education of all this country has to offer.
The day two workshops allowed participants to look at a more tactical approach to the online travel advertising space. Attendees heard from industry professionals about how to take actionable steps moving forward to compete in the online global economy.
